EIA Award — Support to Attend the Maize Genetics Meeting

The EIA (Early Investigator Award) helps researchers from underrepresented or primarily undergraduate institutions to attend the Maize Genetics Meeting. Recipients will gain access to the maize genetics community, explore collaborations, and build professional connections.

Who Should Apply

  • Undergraduate and graduate students, and faculty from non-R1 or primarily undergraduate institutions

  • Undergraduates and first-time attendees are especially encouraged to apply

Note: “non-R1” refers to institutions that are not classified as a top-tier research university.

Application Process & Requirements

  1. Submit the application form below.

  2. Student applicants must provide the name and email of at least one referee (mentor, collaborator, or supervisor). Faculty applicants do not need a referee.

  3. Applicants may already have an abstract in progress — a provisional title is acceptable at the time of application.

All awardees (students and faculty) will be asked to complete short surveys before and after the meeting, and to submit a statement reflecting on their meeting experience. Reimbursement checks will be issued after all required documentation is received.
